  • Use Binder Clips as Photo Displays or Note Stands

In Clever Uses, Binder Clips, Office, Photos, Household, Office Supplies, / 24 May 2012 / 0 comments

Use Binder Clips as Photo Displays or Note StandsAs you know, we love the humble binder clip for its endless versatility and plenty of clever uses. Here's one more simple way to put the clips to use: as holders for your photos or notes.

Just stand the binder clip on the flat end and place photos between the arms. Or use two clips on wider images and turn the arms down, balancing the holders on their arms.

You can use this with index cards, memo notes, and other small pieces of paper too, as we've mentioned a while back (silly putty to keep the clip in place not necessary, I've found, if you have a stable surface).

Your binder clip "photo frame" or note stand takes just an instant to update.

  • DIY Binder Clip Cable Management is Insanely Cheap, Customizable

In Diy, Cable Management, Binder Clips, Workspace, Cords, Cables, Organization, / 01 May 2012 / 0 comments

DIY Binder Clip Cable Management is Insanely Cheap, CustomizableWe've talked about binder clips so much you're probably sick of hearing about them, but reader 3rdspaced has found yet another way to integrate them into his workspace: as a cheap, ultra customizable cable managemnt solution.

DIY Binder Clip Cable Management is Insanely Cheap, CustomizableIf you're using a laptop, they make great cable catchers, but when it comes to managing a large mess of cables we've always opted for solutions like the IKEA Signum line. However, this solution offers one thing those don't: instead of bundling up your cables in one tray, you can group them together and route each group wherever you want (which is the same thing I love about the previously mentioned Cablox pad). And, for just a few bucks, it's one of the cheapest options you'll find, too. Check out the Instructable below for the full how-to.

  • Make a Simple Smartphone Dock Out of Two Binder Clips

In Macgyver Tips, Smartphones, Cellphones, Docks, Binder Clips, Office Supplies, Diy, Clever Uses, From The Tips Box, / 12 January 2012 / 0 comments

Make a Simple Smartphone Dock Out of Two Binder ClipsThe endlessly versatile binder clip is one of our favorite tools for MacGyver-like inventions, and reader David writes in one of his favorite creations: a 5-second smartphone dock.

We've shared one binder clip smartphone dock before, but unlike that model, this doesn't require any bending, clipping, or any other kind of DIY skills. All you need is two binder clips and a piece of paper. Clip them onto the paper, throw your phone in between the tabs and you're good to go. It works great for keeping an eye on the time, playing music, or (as David notes) getting a good steady photo from your phone's camera. This may not work with bigger, thicker phones, but you could always see if a bigger size binder clip would fit your phone if you have a monstrosity like the HTC Thunderbolt. Thanks, David!

  • Create a DIY Storage System with Storage Boxes and Binder Clips

In Furniture Hacks, Diy, Binder Clips, Diy Creations, Binder Clips, Office Supplies, Diy, Clever Uses, From The Tips Box, / 22 April 2011 / 0 comments

Create a DIY Storage System with Storage Boxes and Binder ClipsBinder clips are great. So is extra storage space. If you want to create a clever DIY storage system, all you need are storage boxers and some binder clips.

Have you ever noticed that we love binder clips? It's because they're endlessly versatile and provide great, simple solutions to so many problems. What's great about this DIY storage system is that all you need are boxes and binder clips to make it work. You simply arrange the boxes as you like them and hold them together with binder clips (of the larger, stronger variety, of course). This is about as easy as furniture building gets, and it's pretty great.
