Make an Emergency "Get Home Bag" to Keep at Work You might already have a 72-hour disaster kit or even a longer-term Doomsday survival kit, but what if you're caught at work when disaster strikes? If you don't already have one, create a survival kit that will help you get home from work and keep you safe for at least 24-hours.

Not surprisingly, these include water, energy bars, and a multi-tool. Some items you might not have thought of are a paper map, paracord, small signal mirror, and headlamp. Grow Your Own Mushrooms with a Kit Full of Coffee Grounds Fresh mushrooms can add delicious, savory flavor to all sorts of dishes. Sadly, they don't keep very well in the fridge if you buy them from the grocery store. With these mushroom growing kits, you can raise your own fresh mushrooms. Then cut, clean, and cook them when you're ready to eat.

The Back to the Roots (BTTR) mushroom garden will grow two to four crops of pearl oyster mushrooms, yielding about 1 pound at a time. On the outside, it looks like a simple cardboard box, but inside you'll find everything you need for two to four 1lb crops of mushrooms. The soil inside is made of recycled coffee grounds, so you're helping BTTR recycle the grounds in exchange for delicious fresh food.

The kit also includes a mister you'll use to keep the soil moist while the mushrooms grow. Just put the kit in your window, mist it twice a day, and within a week you'll start seeing the fruits of your labor. After that, they'll double in size each day, and when you're ready you can pop them off, clean them, and enjoy.

Admittedly, the kit would have been cooler if you could use your own coffee grounds for the same purpose, or refill it with the grounds from your coffee machine to get a fresh batch.
