  • iOS 5.1.1 Untethered Jailbreak Now Available

In Jailbreak, Ios, Iphone, Ipad, Ipod Touch, Apple, Ios 5, Windows Downloads, Mac Downloads, Linux Downloads, / 25 May 2012 / 0 comments

iOS 5.1.1 Untethered Jailbreak Now AvailableiOS: The Chronic Dev Team has just released its new jailbreak too, Absinthe 2.0. The jailbreak works with the new iPad, iPhone 4S, and all previous models running iOS 5.1.1.

The jailbreak requires iOS 5.1.1 so if you haven't updated yet, do so. Once you're done head over to the Absinthe site and download Absinthe (Windows/Mac/Linux). The process with Absinthe 2.0 is pretty similar to previous jailbreaks with GreenPoison/Absinthe. Plug in your iPhone or iPad, launch Absinthe, click "Jailbreak," and wait for Absinthe to complete the jailbreak. Head over to the GreenPoison page below for download links and more info for each device.

  • CheatSheet Instantly Displays All the Keyboard Shortcuts for Mac Apps

In Mac Shortcuts, Mac Downloads, Keyboard Shortcuts, Shortcuts, Cheatsheet, Cheat Sheets, Downloads, Windows Downloads, Mac Downloads, Linux Downloads, / 24 May 2012 / 0 comments

CheatSheet Instantly Displays All the Keyboard Shortcuts for Mac AppsMac OS X: Learning keyboard shortcuts is one of the best ways to enhance your productivity, but there are tons to learn—especially when you count individual applications' own special shortcuts. CheatSheet is your Mac shortcuts friend: The free utility quickly summons a list of all keyboard shortcuts for the app you're using.

Once you launch CheatSheet (copy the unzipped file to your Applications folder), the tiny app will wait in the background. Within any application, hold down the Command key (⌘) for about three seconds to bring up the list of all the keyboard shortcuts.

It's like holding down Shift + / (or ?) in Gmail to see every Gmail shortcut, except this is for just about any application on the Mac, OS X 10.7 (I've tested it with Finder, Photoshop, Google Chrome, and Thunderbird.)

Sometimes there's more of a delay to bring up the shortcut list or the app doesn't respond to the hotkey (I think this depends on how busy your system is), but you can relaunch that program, hold down the Command key again, or relaunch CheatSheet.

That very occasional issue aside, CheatSheet is handy app to get to know all the shortcuts at your fingertips.

  • Sparrow for Mac Updates with POP Support, Better Unified Inbox Sorting, and More

In Mac Downloads, Email Clients, Email, Mac Os X, Updates, Cheat Sheets, Downloads, Windows Downloads, Mac Downloads, Linux Downloads, / 18 May 2012 / 0 comments

Sparrow for Mac Updates with POP Support, Better Unified Inbox Sorting, and MoreMac: Sparrow, our pick for the best email client on Mac has been updated to support POP accounts. This means anyone who doesn't have IMAP support in their email (email services like Hotmail fall under this) can now use Sparrow properly.

The POP support is the big update here because it was the one missing feature that prevented a lot of people from using Sparrow. The update also adds in better unified account navigation and now allows you to bulk empty spam, flip through favorites, sent items, and more in all your email accounts at once. A few smaller updates are included as well, including a pull to refresh for updates, an improved startup time, and a few bug fixes here and there. Hit up the Sparrow blog for a full list and download the update in the Mac App Store. The free ad-supported version was updated as well if you'd like to give the POP support a test run.

  • Windownaut Beefs Up OS X’s Title Bar Buttons, Adds Tons of Other Window Management Features

Windownaut Beefs Up OS X's Title Bar Buttons, Adds Tons of Other Window Management FeaturesMac only: Windownaut overhauls window management on your Mac so you can arrange your windows in a multitude of ways, customize the functions of its title bar buttons, and lots more.

There are a lot of apps that manage your windows in similar ways—like Divvy, Cinch, and ShiftIt to name just a few—but Windownaut takes a new approach, adding tons of other features to your windows and their title bar buttons. With Windownaut, you can:

Windownaut Beefs Up OS X's Title Bar Buttons, Adds Tons of Other Window Management Features

    • Move and resize windows using modifier keys instead of having to click on the title bar or window edges.
    • Snap windows to any screen edge or corner, maximize, center, or move to a new space via drag-and-drop.
    • Snap windows to any screen edge or corner, maximize, center, or move to a new space via a custom keyboard shortcut for each position.
    • See all your possible window layouts for an individual window by right-clicking on the green "traffic light" button.
    • Show the current window's document in the Finder by right-clicking on the yellow "traffic light" button.
    • Quit the current application by right-clicking on the red "traffic light" button.

The traffic light features are all customizable as well: you can swap them between buttons, add modifiers, and even make them the default actions for those buttons when you left-click on them (who uses the green button anyway?). The whole app is extremely powerful and customizable, so if you feel held back by other window management applications, you might find what you're looking for with Windownaut.

Windownaut is a $4.99 download for Mac OS X with a free 14-day trial available. It works on both Snow Leopard and Lion.
