Stop Your Jacket Zipper from Getting Caught with a Simple Mod No matter how careful we are when zipping up our jackets, we all have times where the edges get caught in the zipper and you have to spend minutes—or Windex—getting it out. With just a long piece of string or wire, you can prevent this from happening.

Instructables user Mr. H.S. Thompson points out that the "flaps" around the zipper are usually empty, meaning that something can fit inside, which then makes the flaps rigid enough so they don't get caught in the zipper. all you need to do is thread the string/wire through and you should be home free.

Unfortunately this doesn't work for most, if not all, pants zippers, so you'll still have to be careful and make sure your homework is put away before you pack up for the day.

Keep Your Loose Zippers Up With a Key Ring

We covered this idea for keeping your zipper up briefly in our tips box last year, but seeing it again on reddit reminded us how cool it was, so we decided to feature it fully.

All you do is find a cheap key ring to affix to your zipper so you can then hook the ring to your pants button. It not only works for keeping loose zippers up, but it also lets you get a good grip on those weird types of zippers that kind of get stuck in your pants and are hard to pull down. You know, the type that makes you look like you're digging for gold when you're standing at a urinal.
